Blue light has several sources. The properties of the uvex CBR65 and uvex CBR23 lens technology are significantly different to those of uvex UV400. They filter high-energy visible light (HEV)—which causes particular strain on the retina in the range from 380 nm to 450 nm — by up to 50 or 95%.

The uvex CBR23 lens is designed to enhance contrast which helps wearers to distinguish objects more clearly, especially in high-glare conditions. Enhanced contrast can improve depth-perception and help reaction times which can be particularly beneficial in environments requiring high levels of concentration and precision. With the CBR23 lens, warmer colours are more visible than through a grey sunglare lens.
