Climate Change (Energy)

Climate Change (Energy)

Climate change poses significant risks to the environment, societies, and economies. Addressing this issue is a priority of SwedSafe. The facility is equipped with solar panels, reducing the carbon footprint and promoting cleaner energy. Fossil-free energy is used for daily operations, demonstrating a commitment to a greener future. In-house production emits no CO2 (Scope 1) and uses renewable energy sources like solar panels and district heating (Scope 2)

Short transport routes save energy and reduce emissions, with most raw materials sourced locally. Efforts extend beyond internal activities to influence the value chain, encouraging suppliers and customers to adopt sustainable practices. Raising awareness and educating employees and customers about climate change is also a key focus.

Pollution

Process air that arises during production of foam plugs is released through a chimney. The emissions are measured annually and comply with the requirements specified in the operating environmental permit. No emissions of water into the sewer system occurs from the production.

Water

Small amounts of water are used in the production process. No waste water is released to the sewer system from the production processes. No organic solvents are used in production. Cold water and ultra sonic are used for washing production equipment, and any remains are removed mechanically.

Biodiversity

Recognising the importance of biodiversity, SwedSafe have implemented initiatives to protect and enhance the natural habitats surrounding our operations. By providing suitable habitats, such as wildflower meadows, insect hotels and a small water pond, environments that support the well-being and diversity of insects have been established. These efforts align with the commitment to promoting ecological balance and supporting the pollination process.

Circular Economy (Reusability, recyclability, waste)

Responsible consumption and production are vital for sustainable development and addressing climate change. Efforts focus on minimising waste, promoting resource efficiency, and supporting sustainable economic growth.

Packaging materials are reduced, recycling is maximised, and resources are reused to minimise the environmental footprint and landfill waste. A significant portion of waste generates new energy in the local district heating plant, with an ambition to maximise recycling and produce negligible hazardous waste.

SwedSafe is affiliated with Näringslivets Producentansvar, promoting circular and traceable material recycling to ensure more packaging can be reused.
